OED seeks consultants to provide services for small businesses, non-profits

We’re expanding the consultant roster for our Accounting and Business Consulting Program through the Request for Qualifications process. By adding more technical assistance, our office can continue to support entrepreneurs as they establish and grow operations by providing services that would otherwise be beyond their financial reach.  We have extended the deadline to apply to Friday, January 10.

The ABC Program supports Seattle-based small businesses, entrepreneurs, and non-profits by providing up to 10 hours of free one-on-one counseling. Launched in 2022, the program grew from four consultants to 11. Services are available in multiple languages and range from bookkeeping and accounting guidance to marketing plan assistance. In 2024, our consultants have provided 3,000 consulting hours.

Through the RFQ process, we’re expanding the program by adding more Technical Assistance Providers to provide each ABC participant with 5 – 10 consulting hours at no cost to the participant. To qualify, consultants must be a legally established business for at least two years, have at least three years’ experience consulting, supporting, and advocating for small businesses and non-profits, and have the proper documentation to operate a business in Seattle and Washington.

We’re looking for consultants in the following fields:

  • Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and Accountants. Help participants with tax preparation, financial projects, accounting system setup, and more.
  • Marketing Specialists. Provide support in areas such as marketing and brand strategy, social media, and product development.
  • Business Development Consultants. We’re looking for consultants that can offer help with services like business formation and development, business plans, and lease review and negotiation.

You can find a detailed list of services by specialty here. You can also learn more about what to expect as a vendor to the City.

The priority deadline to apply is Friday, January 10, 2025. Final decisions are expected to be made by February 7, 2025. Submissions received after the deadline will be reviewed on a rolling and as-needed basis.

Apply to be a Technical Assistance Provider.
