We’re happy to announce that applications for Seattle Restored at Base Camp Studios 2 are open! Artists will have access to affordable studio space at the historic Bergman Luggage Building on the corner of Third Avenue and Stewart Street in Downtown Seattle. Applications close on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. PT.
Fifteen artists will sign a one-year lease with Base Camp Studios 2, and Seattle Restored will subsidize 50% of the current market rate to make this opportunity more accessible. Artists will become part of a vibrant artistic community in Belltown, benefiting from Downtown activations, events hosted by Base Camp Studios, and participating in the Belltown Art Walks. This program is part of Mayor Harrell’s Downtown Activation Plan to fill vacant storefronts in creative and interesting ways.
Base Camp Studios 2 highlights include:
- Bergman Luggage Building is located at 1901 3rd Avenue and includes a gallery on the ground floor. The original Base Camp Studios location is on 1st Avenue.
- This opportunity offers artists a unique chance to reach new audiences, attract new customers, and contribute to the revitalization of local community spaces including Downtown.
- We strongly encourage applications from individuals who come from historically disenfranchised or under-resourced communities.
- Applicants will be asked to select their top three studio choices within the application as each studio differs in size and layout. Studio layout and pricing are detailed on the website.
- After the subsidized one-year lease term ends, artists will have the option to renew their lease at market rate.
- This program is made possible through a partnership between Seattle Restored and Base Camp Studios. Seattle Restored is managed by Shunpike, Seattle Good Business Network, and our office, the Seattle Office of Economic Development.
Applications close Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at 8 p.m. PT.
