Recap: First MXR:SEA event at M5 Creative

The kickoff of our MXR:SEA event series was a success! Around 200 creative professionals joined us at the M5 Creative Building on June 27, filling the space with energy, conversation, and connections.

MXR:SEA is a series of free workshops that brings together a diverse group of professionals from Seattle’s creative economy, including film, music, gaming, nightlight, photography, design, and more. It was a true celebration of the creative entrepreneurial spirit that defines our city.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Industry demos: Our industry sector demos provided by Highschool.gg, Culture and Code, Atomic, and Hazy Bay gave valuable insights into how to maximize the spaces of M5 Creative while showcasing the incredible talent and innovation that exists within Seattle’s creative community.
  • Networking opportunities: With industry partner tables galore and plenty of networking opportunities, attendees had the chance to connect, collaborate, and share ideas with some of the best in the business: SIFF, SMASH, Seattle Children’s Theater, Seattle Center, Seattle OED Film and Music Commissions, Tasveer, and Washington Filmworks.
  • Eats and drinks: Attendees enjoyed a variety of delicious options from local food trucks, Tabassum and Cosmic Ice Cream, along with a selection of eats and drinks from The Extra Ingredient Catering that kept the energy high throughout the evening.
  • Entertainment: The night was filled with live music by P Washington and The Core Trio, DJ Sean The Shamna, a surprise cameo by Jayza Duhon, and comedy performances by Skarlet Dior Black.
  • Giveaways: Several attendees walked away with some clutch giveaways for participation in the mixer! They scored passes to Bumbershoot Arts and Music Festival and SIFF. A big thank you to Bumbershoot and SIFF for providing those giveaways!

This was just the beginning. Mark your calendars for our next mixer on July 25 from 5 – 8:30 p.m. in the Central District at Midtown Square, (2301 East Union Street, Seattle, WA 98122). Each mixer is unique, inclusive, and experiential, celebrating diversity and ensuring every voice is heard and every idea is valued.
