Thanks to a grant from The Seattle Foundation, Seattle Parks and Recreation will present Hing Hay Park in Seattle’s historic Chinatown with brand-new outdoor furniture this Friday, July 1, pending good weather. The new furniture includes red tables and chairs with Chinese-inspired table umbrellas.
“These new tables and chairs will triple the park’s seating capacity while bringing a splash of color to the streetscape,” said Don Blakeney, the Executive Director of the Chinatown-International District Business Improvement Area (CIDBIA)—the neighborhood sponsor of the program.
“Local restaurant goers will have a place to enjoy their takeout food outside while listening to our local lunchtime performers in Hing Hay Park,” he said.
The furniture replaces older tables and chairs that were wired together and difficult to maneuver. The new moveable furniture allows for park users to move the chairs and tables around and make their time more enjoyable.
