President Obama to meet with local small biz owners today, while in Seattle

President Obama will meet with three small business owners as part of a roundtable discussion. The owners are Gillian Allen White, the co-owner and general manager of Grand Central Bakery’s Seattle operations, an artisan shop that opened in 1989, Joe Fugere, founder of Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria in Seattle, and Tiffany Turner, owner of the Inn at Discovery Coast in Long Beach.
Smart grid project to create 500 Washington jobs

Sen. Maria Cantwell said Monday that the U.S. Energy Department has approved $178 million in funding for a Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Project for improving electricity grid systems across five states. The project will create an estimated 500 jobs in Washington state and a total of 1,500 in the Pacific Northwest region, she said.
Seattle City Council approves urban farm and community garden legislation

Within the 2010 Year of Urban Agriculture, the City Council approved the Council Bill that supports the rapidly growing local food movement. The ordinance updates the City’s Land Use code governing urban agriculture uses. Residents will be able to sell food grown on their property.
