Although fall has arrived, the Neighborhood Farmers Market Alliance (NFMA) has open markets year-round providing local, fresh, and healthy foods to Seattleites. Market Farmers provide excellent in-season winter squashes, pumpkins, potatoes and other root vegetables, hearty winter greens and other fall vegetables, pastured and organic meats and turkeys, hams, artisan cheeses, cider, wines and heirloom apples and pears. Make the most of these wonderful ingredients at your own holiday feasts and gatherings.
Need help with your seasonal cooking? Attend any of two remaining Eat Local for the Holidays, Saturday at U District or Sunday at Broadway. Watch cooking demos by local gourmet chefs and learn tips for creating a fabulous, locally-derived feast for Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season. If you’re a regular farmers market shopper, give yourself a 100 mile challenge for your Thanksgiving table! Or if you’re new to local eating, try incorporating one locally-sourced dish to the menu, and take the Puget Sound Fresh Pledge.
