Are you longing for a creative outlet? Or maybe you’re an adventurous explorer of art and culture? You can find your artistic spirit at the Othello Park International Music and Arts Festival (OPIMA).
At the festival, scheduled for Sunday, August 21 from noon to 6 p.m. you’ll soak up the creative energy presented in the cultural performances, vendors and hands-on activities. For the adventurous, the Arts Creation Station, sponsored by the MLK Business Association and HomeSight, is your oasis of creativity.
Indulge your inner artist as you create beaded necklaces and African Masks from recycled materials. Get your hands dirty and throw your own bowl on a pottery wheel. Use natural items like potatoes and fruit to make beautiful stamps, and then use them to make gorgeous prints.
An array of tents and booths will showcase Rainier Valley’s colorful diversity of businesses and organizations, each offering a free interactive game, activity, or gift to share. In addition, there will be a number of food vendors on hand to feed your appetite. Wander through the vendor booths and discover the creative treasures of local artists.
The Othello Park International Music and Arts Festival is a part of the Rainier Valley Culture Fest Weekend, a Seafair-sanctioned event. Located just one block east of the intersection of S Othello Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Othello Park is just a block walk from the Othello Central Link Station.
