The aerospace industry is vital to Washington’s economy. Some 650 aerospace companies are operating in 28 counties in Washington, supporting more than 200,000 jobs and paying $5 billion in wages – five percent of all wages paid in the state. The Seattle metropolitan area has the highest concentration of aerospace industry jobs in the world.
That’s why the Office of Economic Development is a proud partner of the Washington Aerospace Partnership, a coalition of business, labor, non-profit, and local government leaders working to grow aerospace jobs in Washington State. To date, more than 100 organizations, including the City of Seattle, have joined the Partnership.
The Partnership is working to improve our region’s competitiveness as an aerospace manufacturing center, supporting and advocating for initiatives to help the state become more competitive. In Washington universities and vocational schools, efforts are already underway to create responsive and focused training programs for aerospace workers.
The Partnership welcomes the support of businesses and organizations as well as individuals. Visit the Washington Aerospace Partnership’s website for more information on how to get involved.
