What kinds of leadership help nonprofits thrive in a world marked by so much change? The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation has been exploring this question. On Thursday, November 1, the foundation announced the first in an annual series of Creative Leadership Awards (CLA) to Pacific Northwest organizations that have demonstrated what it views as exemplary success in adapting to changing times. The work of award recipients reflected five principles the Allen Foundation sees as central to creative leadership in the Pacific Northwest: a clear purpose and compelling vision; commitment to their greater communities, the ability to realistically assess circumstances and see possibilities where others do not; flexibility on how to realize the goal; and transparent leadership.
MAYOR RECOGNIZES EASY STREET RECORDS FOR STABILITY, LONGEVITY
The Chamber joined Mayor Mike McGinn in honoring Easy Street Records for their stability, longevity, and involvement in Seattle’s music community, while embodying Seattle’s pioneering spirit and reflecting Seattle at its best through the In Good Company program. “Easy Street Records can pride itself on being one of the leaders of a music scene in Seattle that employs 20,000 people and has grown to be a $2.2 billion industry,” said Maud Daudon, president CEO of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. “The Chamber congratulates Matt and his team for a legacy of great music and great success.”
