Seattle’s new ordinance that amends several street-food regulations has sparked a new business interest in the city. As new street food vendors line the sidewalks and parking lots of Seattle, there will be plenty to learn from the few trucks and carts that have been doing it for decades.
The word is out on where the locals in South Park enjoy their authentic Mexican Food: Taqueria El Rincon. It’s fast, cheap and has been pleasing patrons for nearly 10 years. Lucy Pelayo manages the taco truck and greets everyone like family, “I try to make them laugh, to remind them about the beauty in the simple things.” Standard favorites like tacos, burritos, tortas, tostadas, sopes, quesadillas, and enchiladas are offered with eight different meat choices. You are sure to walk away happy.
The taco truck is parked at 8819 14th Avenue South, 98108 (between Donovan St & Trenton St).
If you’re interested in following in the footsteps of Lucy and want to start your own street food business, Washington CASH, Seattle’s Office of Economic Development and MercyCorps NW are hosting free Street Food Vending Workshops in English on Thursday, October 27 and in Spanish on Monday, November 14.
The workshops are FREE! Successful street-food business owners will be on hand to speak about their experiences, best practices, challenges, and perspectives on how the new street-food ordinance will energize street-food vending in Seattle.
The workshops will present a basic overview of how to start and operate a street-food business, and each will cover the new regulatory changes for street-food business. For those interested in starting or growing a small business, resources and opportunities available through Washington C.A.S.H., MercyCorps NW, and elsewhere will be highlighted and explained.
