Seattle “Carbon Coaches” lead community outreach about emissions, waste, energy use

Seattle Climate Action Now is currently recruiting for their March/April class of Carbon Coaches, volunteer leaders who want to learn and teach others about reducing carbon emissions from transportation, waste generation, home energy use, and materials purchasing. The training program, which extends from Wednesday, March 24th to Wednesday, April 28th, consists of six classes, one field trip, and some work outside of class.

The training includes information on the fundamentals of climate change science, the local impacts of climate change and energy-use, transportation, solid waste, green purchasing, climate change, and more.

Community outreach will be a large responsibility for the Carbon Coaches, who will use information from their training, in addition to tools like the City of Seattle’s Carbon Calculator, to help individuals and organizations conduct a carbon footprint analysis.

This free training program is accepting applications until Friday, March 12th. Download the application here or learn more at seattlecan.org.
